While the weather in New York is freezing, the Yankees couldn’t be any hotter. After walloping the Toronto Blue Jays 11-5 today, the Yankees now lead the majors in wins with 15.

The spring has brought a new hope to the Yankees organization, and that hope is driven by youth. In today’s win the Yanks had a ton of young talent drive them, and for any Yankee fan watching, there was a lot to be happy about.

The guys on the hill really held it down today. Luis Cessa took the ball to start, and for a guy who has had a rather impressive spring, he was less than stellar today.

In 1.2 innings, Cessa gave up six hits, and four earned runs. It was without a doubt his worst outing of the spring, but it was the guys after him that shined.

Ben Heller came in for 1.1 innings of relief, and did not give up a hit while notching two strikeouts. It was Bryan Mitchell who had the bulk of the work on the hill, going three innings, giving up only one run, and had five strikeouts.

The highlight of the Yankees pitching staff today was without a doubt the performance of top pitching prospect James Kaprielian. Kaprielian has had a ton of buzz around him since entering the Yankees system in 2015, and finally got a chance to show what the buzz is all about.

In two innings of work, Kaprielian didn’t give up a run or a hit, and had three strikeouts. He earned the win for the Yankees, and if he keeps up these kinds of outings, he is going to find himself in the Bronx in no time.

The buzz continued for the Yankees into the batter’s box, as the team crossed the plate 11 times. Prospect outfielder Clint Frazier, utility man Rob Refsnyder, and second baseman Starlin Castro all went yard for the Yankees. The three accounted for four RBIs all together.

Frazier continues to dazzle with his bat this spring hitting .323, and driving in runs left and right with seven RBIs. He has surprised many with his quick development, and like Kaprielian, he could find himself in the Majors sooner rather than later.

All in all, the Yankees strong spring should have fans salivating. If this kind of success carries into the start of the regular season, teams across the league should be afraid of Yankees baseball not just this year, but for years to come.

Bronx baseball is bound to be great again, and this year could be the start of another potential dynasty.
