Pro Football Focus recently released their most recent 2017 NFL Mock Draft. Who did they have the Jets select with the sixth overall pick?

After a poor season in 2016, the New York Jets will be on the clock with the sixth pick in the NFL Draft. With multiple needs on both sides of the ball, the Jets could go in a few different directions with the pick.

In recent mock drafts, the Jets have selected cornerbacks, safeties, and now we can add a quarterback to that list.

Steve Palazzolo of Pro Football Focus recently had the Jets select quarterback Deshaun Watson in his mot recent mock draft. Here’s what Palazzolo had to say about the pick.

"The Jets are certainly in the market for a quarterback, and they go with Watson, who is one of the more difficult evaluations at the position. For two straight years, he went from good to great down the stretch, finishing the 2016 season with the No. 3 grade among quarterbacks, at 90.6.Inconsistent accuracy and questionable pocket instincts are valid concerns, though Watson has also showed the ability to make the necessary throws—from zipping one up the seam to throwing touch passes down the field. His ability to move the chains on the ground is only an added bonus, but for Watson, it’s all about proving that he can work through his progressions while improving his work in the pocket."

Seeing the Jets take another quarterback will be a hot topic of conversation leading up to the draft. After selecting Christian Hackenberg in the second round of the last year’s draft, selecting Watson would be a clear indication that the Jets have given up on him before he even took a snap in a regular season game.

However, the Jets have been starving for a franchise quarterback. If they believe Watson is that guy, they should jump all over him with their first round pick.

With Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg as the current quarterbacks on the roster, the Jets are still in need of help at that position. With the quarterback position being the most important on the field, they should be focused on doing what it takes to find themselves help. In the NFL Draft, Watson could be their answer.
