Recent New York Knicks rumors have been about whether or not Carmelo Anthony will be traded. Does a deal seem likely?

After seeing DeMarcus Cousins traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, all of the Knicks rumors have been about their star. For a few weeks now, we have heard Carmelo Anthony’s name mentioned in trade rumors.

So far, nothing has happened, and Anthony is still on the Knicks. Due to the struggles of the Knicks this season, they have been exploring moving Anthony. However, Anthony has a no-trade clause in his contract which makes a possible deal very difficult.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Anthony would only be interested in a trade to Los Angeles. Here’s what Berman had to say.

"According to a source who has spoken to Knicks officials, the odds are heavily against the team dealing Anthony by Thursday’s trade deadline. Anything that has been discussed probably has not been attractive enough, plus Anthony can block any deal that is not to Los Angeles, his preferred destination."

For the Knicks, not having any leverage in a deal is certainly holding them up. If both Los Angeles teams were interested, they would know they wouldn’t have to pay as steep of a price for Anthony because of the trade clause.

Due to the Clippers being in the hunt in the Western Conference, they might believe that Anthony is the missing piece. For years now, the Clippers have lacked a player that they can use on the wing like Anthony. However, a trade with the Clippers likely wouldn’t bring back a package that the Knicks would like.

For the Lakers, their interest in Anthony would be appealing for the Knicks. The Lakers have been rebuilding through the draft, and that has allowed them to stockpile some young talent.

Even with two teams in Los Angeles, the Knicks might be hard pressed to get a package that they would like. Due to the no-trade clause, it’s hard to imagine Anthony leaving New York.
