The New York Yankees are bringing in former player, Nick Swisher, as a guest intructor for Spring Training.

The New York Yankees will have a lot of new faces at Spring Training this year. Their next crop of youngsters are making their first appearances, but we will also see some old faces helping out.

Alex Rodriguez was already announced as a guest Spring Training instructor for the Yankees this year. He will be making his first appearance on Tuesday. Rodriguez will be joined by former teammate Nick Swisher as well.

Swisher will be at the Yankees Spring Training facility as a guest instructor. He announced his retirement last week, and three days later he was already with the Yankees helping out. On Monday, his first day, was he was working with the outfielders.

"“I never have to worry about an 0 for 4 again,” Swisher said with a smile. “It’s great to be back.”"

More from New York Yankees

This is not the first time that Rodriguez and Swisher will be working with the Yankees. Both were guest instructors at the instructional league this past fall. “The fact that he’s giving back to the game and is involved in the game, that doesn’t shock me,” manager Joe Girardi said.

Girardi already has a plan in place for Swisher, who will be working alongside the players.

"“He’s going to work with our players,” Girardi said. “Dispense knowledge that he has about how to play the game when he talks to the young kids, some of the expectations about how to deal with it. All the things Alex did well.”"

Swisher spent four seasons with the Yankees as a player following four with the Oakland Athletics and one with the Chicago White Sox. Swisher made the All-Star team in 2010, his only selection in the midsummer’s classic.

Swisher had the most successful seasons of his career in pinstripes. In 598 games with the Yankees, Swisher slashed .268/.367/.483 with 134 doubles, 105 home runs, and 349 RBI.

Following his time with the Yankees, Swisher joined the Cleveland Indians and played the final season of his career in 2015 split between the Indians and Atlanta Braves. Knee injuries severely slowed down Swisher in recent seasons, as he played in 55 games with the Yankees Triple-A affiliate, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Swisher stepped away once his second child was born in July according to ESPN. That was the last time he took the field as a player, as he is now transitioning into the coaching ranks.
