Pro Football Focus has released their third NFL Mock Draft for 2017. Who do they have the New York Jets taking with the sixth overall pick?

After a really poor 2016 season, the New York Jets will be on the clock with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. As expected, there are plenty of needs for the Jets on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

One of the issues for the Jets was in their secondary. After investing a lot of money in the secondary in the 2015 offseason, the Jets once again have a lot of issues in the defensive backfield.

After a mediocre year for his standards in 2015, Darrelle Revis took a huge step backward in 2016. He struggled to cover pretty much anyone, and he was torched by some of the best wide receivers in the league. With a huge contract and a decline in his production, Revis could be playing elsewhere next season.

Even if Revis does come back at cornerback and not safety, the Jets still need help at the position. In their third mock draft of the year, Pro Football Focus has the Jets taking cornerback Jalen Tabor from Florida. Here’s what they had to say about Tabor.

"The depth at cornerback bodes well for the Jets as they may dip into the pool multiple times, but they start with Tabor who has the size and playmaking ability that head coach Todd Bowles needs for his system. He’s had either an interception or a pass breakup on 26.5 percent of his targets, well above the national average, and he’s capable of playing tight man coverage or breaking on the ball quickly in “off” coverage. Tabor’s aggressive style can get him into trouble at times, but he may be the best playmaker in the loaded cornerback class."

Due to the struggles of the Jets’ secondary, a cornerback makes a lot of sense at this point in the draft. While we are still early in the process, it doesn’t appear that there is an offensive lineman worth taking where the Jets will be in the first round.

If no offensive lineman is worth taking than Tabor makes plenty of sense. He would be able to give the Jets depth instantly at the position and could be a starter in Week 1. If Tabor is the playmaker in the NFL that he was in college, the Jets would likely be very happy with the pick.
