Carmelo Anthony once again reaffirmed his desire to remain with the New York Knicks during his meeting with Phil Jackson.

Carmelo Anthony has seen his name in the media a lot this season. Anthony has received his fair share of criticism this season as the New York Knicks are not at a level people had hoped they would be. Anthony receives a lot of the brunt of that talk, and once again rumors of the Knicks possibly trying to trade him surfaced.

Anthony has all of the control of being traded. He received a no-trade clause in his contract extension he signed prior to the 2014-15 season. He has the power to veto any trade he is a part of. It makes Anthony very difficult to trade, but that has not stopped people from speculating about it.

More from Carmelo Anthony

With how poor the Knicks are playing, and with people saying his patience are running low, this could be the beginning of the end. Charley Rosen of FanRag sports, a former Phil Jackson assistant, wrote a scathing piece saying Anthony’s usefulness has worn out with the Knicks.

This prompted Anthony to speak out following another bad loss Sunday afternoon to the Toronto Raptors. He said that if his time in New York is over, he and Jackson should talk. That talk has happened, and Anthony has only doubled down on staying with the Knicks.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported that Anthony reaffirmed that he wants to stay with the Knicks during his meeting with Jackson. Wojnarowski also reported that it was a business-like meeting between the two and that Anthony has no intentions of waiving his no-trade clause.

Anthony not only wants to remain with the Knicks, New York Daily News’ Frank Isola said that a source told him Anthony wants to win in New York. Now that Anthony has once again reaffirmed his stance in wanting to remain with the Knicks, the focus should once again turn to the court.

The Knicks are playing some bad basketball recently, with their record dropping to 18-24. They need to get out of their funk, and the off-court distractions have definitely not been helping. Jackson can now go back to running the team and Anthony can focus on the task at hand, which is helping the team win basketball games.
