New York Knicks: Derrick Rose Hopes Absence Does Not Affect Future
By Nick Ziegler
One of the strangest things we have seen all season was when point guard Derrick Rose disappeared from the New York Knicks.
New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose recently left the team without giving notice to anyone to leave for Chicago. While Rose said it was a family emergency, not letting anyone know where he was is certainly not the right way to go about it.
As an upcoming free agent this offseason, Rose hopes that this won’t affect how he is viewed by the organization.
“When I was in the room I felt like they understood where I was coming from,” Rose, a free agent this summer said to Ian Begley of ESPN.com. “I hope one incident didn’t change their minds. Who knows? This is a business and if it was to happen I’m still going to play the way I normally know how to play no matter where I’m at.”
Even though the Knicks have been a disappointment this season, Rose has played well. So far this season, Rose is averaging 17.5 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game. One of the reasons why Rose has played so well is because he has been healthy this season.
This offseason, Rose is seeking a big contract. Decisions like he made when he skipped the New Orleans Pelicans game, are not going to help him get one. While it is unclear how upset the Knicks’ organization is with Rose, it’s hard to expect them to be alright with his actions earlier in the week.

On the court, Rose has provided the Knicks with an explosive point guard that they have desired for many years. However, his actions might affect him when he becomes a free agent this offseason.
