The New York Knicks suffered a heart-breaking loss on Wednesday night. However, head coach Jeff Hornacek thinks the team is heading in the right direction.

Even though the New York Knicks lost their sixth straight game on Wednesday night to the Milwaukee Bucks, head coach Jeff Hornacek was pleased with what he saw. Recently, the Knicks have really struggled on the defensive end of the court. Their effort has come into question, but they certainly brought it on Wednesday against the Bucks.

“We did a lot of things right,” Hornacek said to Ian Begley of ESPN.com. We played good defense, we helped each other out and they’re in the locker room tired right now. So they played as hard as they could, and that’s all you can ask. That’s making strides.”

Despite the effort, the Knicks did blow a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter, which is certainly a horrible thing to do. However, Carmelo Anthony believes the Knicks will win a lot of games if they play like they did on Wednesday night.

“I think we’ll win a lot of games if we play the way that we played throughout most of this game,” Anthony said to Begley.

Hornacek seems to believe that the Knicks record is directly related to their effort on the court.

“I think we were 3-6 and then we won those 11 out of 15. It was with an effort like we had tonight,” the coach said to Begley. “If we continue to do that, we’re going to win games. Again, we just have to reiterate to the guys, that’s how we want them to play. Things will take care themselves if you just play that way.”

The Knicks will have a chance to get revenge on the Bucks rather quickly, as they will be facing them again on Friday night. If they are able to bring the same level of effort, they could certainly leave Milwaukee with a win.
