The Dolphins vs Jets matchup tonight in a Saturday Night special kicks off Week 15 as the two AFC East rivals renew their rivalry. The two teams are heading in two different directions this season. The Jets come into the game with a record of 4-9 and are eliminated from the postseason. They will be looking to play spoiler against the Dolphins, who are 8-5 and in the thick of the playoff race.

The Dolphins will need some help to make the postseason, but of course, they will have to handle their own business as well. As long as they keep winning games they will have a chance at making the postseason; they are tied with the Denver Broncos for the last Wild Card spot but are currently losing the tiebreaker.

The Jets would love for nothing more than helping dash the Dolphins playoff hopes. The Jets had their playoff chances dashed last season by the Buffalo Bills the last week of the season. They will look to help do the same to a division rival this year.

For the Jets to pull off the upset they will need to execute better than they did in the first matchup. The Jets and Dolphins played against each other in Week 9, with the Dolphins getting the victory by four, winning 27-23. It was a poorly played game for the Jets, who will look different in a lot of areas this time around.

The Jets are in full roster evaluation mode as they have nothing to lose or gain this season. The only impact these games will have is on their draft position. That doesn’t mean they will try any less, as we saw the Jets overcome a slow start last week against the San Francisco 49ers to get an overtime victory.

If the Jets are to get their second victory in a row and fifth of the season, they will need some players to step up. Check out our slideshow of the players to watch for when the Jets and Dolphins face off tonight at Hard Rock Stadium.
