The New York Giants had a rough game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13. The Giants took their six-game winning streak on the road to Heinz Field and received a rude welcoming from the Steelers. The Giants lost the game 24-14, but the score is not a true indicator of how much the Giants were truly dominated in the game.

The Giants lost in virtually every facet of the game. The Steelers showed why Heinz Field is one of the most difficult places to win a game in the NFL as a visiting team. The Giants were unable to get any traction and couldn’t get out of their own way.

Any time the Giants made a good play they would do something to take it away, such as commit a penalty. They didn’t receive any help from the referees, who made a number of questionable calls. While the Steelers were flagged more times than the Giants, the times of the penalties called were crushing for the Giants.

Referees cannot be the sole blame for the Giants loss as they played a very sloppy game. The defense did their best to slow down the Steelers explosive offense. Surrendering only two touchdowns given the circumstances the defense was put in should be considered a success in some areas.

They did all they could to keep the game close but the offense was just unable to deliver. The Giants didn’t even break 200 yards of offense until their final drive of the game in garbage time. It was a poor showing in a big game as the Giants, overall, came up small once again against a winning team.

It is a troubling trend for the Giants as they struggle with any team that has real playoff aspirations. The grades for this week reflect those troubles. Check out our slideshow for the Giants team grades from the loss to the Steelers.
