New York Jets at Arizona Cardinals

The New York Jets will be traveling to take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6. The Jets will be in primetime, as they will take on the Cardinals on Monday Night Football. It will be a homecoming for head coach Todd Bowles, as he was on the Cardinals staff as defensive coordinator for two seasons before joining the Jets.

The Jets will be heading into Arizona struggling mightily. They are coming off a 31-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, giving them three losses in a row and a 1-4 record. The Cardinals are coming in with a little momentum, as they defeated the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football in Week 5.

An already difficult matchup has become that much tougher for the Jets because of injuries. It was announced this week that Eric Decker will be out for the season as his rotator cuff was not healing as well as originally hoped, and he will undergo surgery. Linebacker David Harris is trending in the wrong direction as well.

Harris has played in 121 consecutive games, but his availability looks to be slim. He has not practiced this week and the outlook isn’t positive. But, Nick Mangold and Darrelle Revis both got in a limited practice, and are trending in the right direction for Monday night.

More from New York Jets

The Cardinals will be getting some reinforcements this week as well, as Carson Palmer looks ready to return from his concussion. He was injured against the St. Louis Rams in Week 4, but looks ready to return against the Jets and their struggling defense.

Keys To The Game

Can the Jets slow down the Cardinals passing attack? With Palmer looking likely to be under center, the Jets job got a lot more difficult. Despite his struggles, this season, Palmer is a surefire upgrade on Drew Stanton.

Palmer has a ton of weapons to spread the ball to, starting with future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald. He works all over the Cardinals’ formation and should be in for a big night. Michael Floyd, John Brown, and Jaron Brown are no slouches either. The Jets also deal with another multi-dimensional running back, as they got beat by Le’Veon Bell last week and now deal with David Johnson.

Speaking of running backs, can the Jets get Matt Forte going? The Jets have abandoned the running game to a certain extent, which is part of their struggles. Ryan Fitzpatrick has shown time and time again that he cannot carry a team on his back, yet the Jets keep trying. Time to get back to the ground and rely on Forte and Bilal Powell to carry the ball.

Prediction

The Jets brutal schedule continues, as does their losing streak. They always seem to find a way to make things interesting against better teams, but they are just not playing good football right now. The Cardinals aren’t lighting the world on fire either, but being at home with the extra rest gives them the advantage.
