New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Week 1 preview, predictions and more.

The New York Giants will be renewing their rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. With a wide open NFC East, both teams have division title aspirations. A victory over a rival and division opponent in Week 1 would go a long way in achieving that goal.

Both the Giants and Cowboys had rough 2015 seasons, as both ended up in the top-10 of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Cowboys came away with a new running back in Ezekiel Elliot, while the Giants continued bolstering their secondary with Eli Apple; both Ohio State products. Both should have roles in this week’s game and could even meet face-to-face on the field.

This will be third time in four years that the Giants are opening their season at AT&T Stadium, and fourth time in five years the two teams will face off to begin the season. It will not be the matchup we are used to seeing, as Tony Romo will be out this week, and for the foreseeable future, but that leads us to the key to the game.

Key To The Game:

More from New York Giants

Quarterback play is the name of the game, and that will be a deciding factor in this game. The Cowboys will be thrusting rookie Dak Prescott in the starting role for Romo. Prescott shined in the preseason, but the regular season is a totally different monster. Will he be able to perform the game way against a starting offense as he did against backups?

On the other side of the field, the Giants have the most steady quarterback in the NFL; Eli Manning. Manning has been under center for every regular season and postseason game for the Giants since taking over for Kurt Warner in the eighth game of the 2004 season. The Giants have the advantage at quarterback, but protecting him is another question.

The other key to this game is the offensive line play. The Cowboys have the best offensive line in the NFL, while the Giants have some questions on the right side of their line. This will be the first time we see the Giants new defensive line together for a full game and it will be up to them to make up the difference between offensive line play.

Odds:

Point Spread: Pick’em

Over/Under: 46

Prediction:

This should be a high-scoring game as both teams have potentially explosive offenses and defenses that need to prove themselves. Despite the game being in Dallas, Jerry World has not proven to be much of a home field advantage for the Cowboys; the Giants are 4-3 there, losing the last three games since the name was changed from Cowboys Stadium to AT&T Stadium.
