The New York Yankees have high hopes for their newly acquired prospect Clint Fraizer. Can he become a superstar for the organization?

After struggling in the first half of the season, the New York Yankees decided to be sellers at the MLB trade deadline. The decision to trade some players was easy, but trading Andrew Miller who was under contract for the next two seasons was a sign that the Yankees are focused on the future. The big prize the Yankees got in return for Miller was the Cleveland Indians’ outfielder Clint Frazier.

Frazier has done well in the minor leagues for the Indians, as he totaled a .276 batting average, 13 home runs, and 48 RBIs in Double-A this season. It has certainly been a good season for Frazier in Double-A with the Indians, and now he will be looking to continue his quest to become a major leaguer.

“Yes,” Frazier said to Randy Miller of NJ.com. “Obviously, I have high expectations for myself. I pride myself in all parts of the game. I know when I step on the field that I have the physical ability to do a lot of things that are very special.

“Right now I think the most important thing is for me to continue to mature as a player mentally and mature as a man as well. Obviously, I’ve gone through ups and downs in my career, so for me to be the best possible player, I have to not only be physically ready but mentally ready at all times.

Fraizer is a very physically gifted player and has drawn comparisons to another stocky outfielder named Mike Trout. Even though the Yankees would love Frazier to develop into a player like Trout is, he is focused on being his own superstar.

“The biggest thing is I’m not trying to be Mike Trout. I’m trying to be Clint Frazier. I’m trying to fill my own shoes, and wherever that takes me when the time comes is going to be awesome.”

“Right now, the physical part, you can tell he’s built like a truck,” Manger Al Pedrique said. “He’s a strong kid. He’s stocky, he’s short … the ball takes a jump off his bat. “I think he has a chance to be that type of player. The way he plays the game, I love it.”

Frazier’s goal is to be called up this season for the Yankees, but he will first have to prove himself in Triple-A for the Yankees.

“I had goals to get called up this year,” Frazier said to Miller. “Obviously being in Triple-A is a lot closer than where I was in the past. If I could call myself up, I would have already done it by now. “Now I’m in the Yankees hands and when they feel the time’s right, they’re going to be the ones making the call, and I’ll be ready whenever they do it.”
