The New York Yankees will be sending three players to the 2016 MLB All-Star Game, as Carlos Beltran, Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances were all selected to represent the American League.

It has been a rocky first half for the New York Yankees as they have had to deal with a number of injuries and ineffective performance on the field from multiple players. But, through all the bad, there still has been some good, and those players will represent the Yankees at the 2016 MLB All-Star Game in San Diego next week at Petco Park.

Outfielder Carlos Beltran, left-handed reliever Andrew Miller and right-handed reliever Dellin Betances will all be making the trip to the Midsummer Classic to represent the pinstripes, and all three are deserving.

The 39-year old Beltran has been the Yankees best and most consistent hitter this season as he looks to land at least one more lucrative deal this offseason as a free agent. Beltran has virtually come out of nowhere this season to be a great run producer in the middle of the Yankees lineup night in and night out.

Through 78 games, Beltran has a slash line of .302/.341/.571, adding 19 home runs, 51 RBI and 43 runs; Beltran is top-three on the team out of qualified players in all of those stats. He is basically carrying the Yankees offense, and has earned a trip to San Diego for his ninth All-Star game.

Manager Joe Girardi said that he has no problem with Beltran going to the game as long as his hamstring is 100 percent healed. It looked good in the drubbing of the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, as Beltran went 3-for-5 with a double and RBI.

Coming into the season the Yankees were going to rely on their bullpen as the anchor of the team. They built a three-headed monster that shortens games, and they have done their jobs. While Aroldis Chapman won’t be in the All-Star game, the other two players will be.

Miller has excelled in any role the Yankees have put him in, as he was the closer last season and to start this season while Chapman served his suspension. He has not missed a beat as the set-up man, blowing away hitters on a nightly basis.

Miller has an ERA of 1.47 and WHIP of 0.68 on the season with a record of 5-1; he has also compiled seven saves and 13 holds. His strikeout rate is extremely impressive, as he has raked up 66 in only 36 2/3 innings pitched. He has only one blown save on the season, and will be making his first appearance in an All-Star game.

That results in a scary K/9 ratio of 16.20 on the season. What is truly the scary part is that Betances actually has a better one, albeit it just slightly, at 16.24.

Betances has punched out 74 opposing batters in 41 innings pitched with an ERA of 2.63 and WHIP of 0.93. He has a record of 2-4 on the season and has converted 20 holds with only two blown saves.

This will make it three-for-three for Betances in the All-Star game, as he has been invited each season he has been in the major leagues in his career thus far.
