The New York Mets will be sending Noah Syndergaard, Yoenis Cespedes and Jeurys Familia to San Diego for the 2016 MLB All-Star Game.

The New York Mets will be represented well at the 2016 MLB All-Star Game at Petco Park in San Diego next week. The Mets will be sending three players, Yoenis Cespedes, Noah Syndergaard and Jeurys Familia to take part in the game.

They will be joined by manager Terry Collins and the entire coaching staff as well. Because the Mets represented the National League in the World Series last season, Collins will be managing the National League in the game.

Cespedes was voted into the game as one of the starting outfielders by the fans, while Syndergaard also has a chance to start the game. It is something that former Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzales thinks will happen, saying, “I’d be surprised if he’s not out there,” in reference to Syndergaarad.

Here is the remaining of the starting lineup that will be joining Cespedes unless an injury occurs before then and if Dexter Fowler is cleared to play.

In addition to Syndergaard, Collins has mentioned Jake Arrieta, Madison Bumgarner and Johnny Cueto as other potential candidates to start the game. But, Bumgarner will not be allowed to participate because he is scheduled to start Sunday for the San Francisco Giants.

Starting the All-Star game is something Syndergaard would love to do, saying, “That would be a dream come true. I would be rather thankful for that. It would be really exciting.”

Syndergaard has earned the right to start if Collins does elect his own player, as he has dominated in his first full season in the major leagues. Syndergaard has been battling bone spurs in his elbow, but has not let that slow him down.

On the season, Syndergaard has a record of 9-3 with a 2.41 ERA and 1.05 WHIP to go along with 123 strikeouts in 101 innings. He has quickly established himself as the true ace of this staff, surpassing Jacob deGrom and the struggling Matt Harvey.

Cespedes has also earned the starting spot in the the NL’s outfield, as he has picked up right where he left off last season. Through 77 games, Cespedes has a slash line of .304/.371/.589 with 21 home runs, 51 RBI and 46 runs scored. He is one pace to set multiple career-highs this season, as he looks like he will cash in once again this offseason.

As for Familia, all he has done is convert all 29 save chances this season, with an ERA of 2.68, WHIP of 1.21 and 39 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings. Familia has not blown a save in the regular season since July 30th 2015.

Syndergaard and Familia are both first time All-Stars, while Cespedes will be in the Midsummer Classic for the second time in his career. This is the first time since 2009 that the Mets have at least three players in the All-Star game, when Carlos Beltran, David Wright, Francisco Rodriguez and Johan Santana represented the team.
