With a healthy wide receiver group, the New York Giants should sit atop the NFC East at the conclusion of the upcoming season.

Wide receiver Victor Cruz spoke glowingly about his first day at mandatory minicamp, courtesy of the team’s official Twitter handle:

In the big picture, it’s a small step in the right direction. Obviously, minicamp speed and regular-season game flow don’t equate. Nonetheless, it’s a positive sign to see the coaching staff allow Cruz to take the field with confidence in his body conditioning.

With Cruz working his way back as a bonus, the Giants still have a top-5 wideout in Odell Beckham and a promising rookie talent in Sterling Shepard. The trio combines for a troublesome bunch for opposing pass defenses.

The Giants defense must live up to lofty expectations due to the cash spent to revamp the secondary and defensive line, but the offensive firepower should put this team over the top.

Quarterback Eli Manning’s numbers have burst through career plateaus over the past two seasons with Beckham and Rueben Randle. For the first time in his career, he threw for 30-plus touchdowns in consecutive seasons. He’s also kept his interception rate below 2.5 percent between the 2014-15 seasons.

In 2016, Manning could dissect a defense with one of the most talented position groups in the league. Expect the Giants to contend for the No. 1 spot in passing yards for the upcoming season.
