The New York Yankees are one of the most successful franchises in all of sports, and one of the reasons for that has been the great catchers to wear the pinstripes. However, who is the best catcher to ever wear pinstripes?

In baseball, one of the most important positions on the field is the catcher, as he has the most responsibility on the field defensively. A good catcher can make or break a pitcher, as some of the best ones are students of the game and bookworms when it comes to hot and cold zones for opposing hitters.

Throughout the history of the Yankees, there has been plenty of great catchers that have helped win World Series Championships for the franchise from Yogi Berra to most recently, Jorge Posada.

The Yankees have a winning history, and it is no coincidence that they have had some of the best catchers of all-time on their team. It is the most demanding position on the field for a baseball player, as all catchers have been banged up at one point or another.

While the position takes a lot out of a player, it is very gratifying to be the first one to hug a pitcher when the team wins a championship. The Yankees have had many great catchers throughout the years, and here are the five best catchers to ever wear pinstripes.
