Recent New York Giants rumors give a little insight into who they may be targeting with the No.10 overall pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft, as Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell is being linked to them.

New York Giants rumors will be rampant, just like with all NFL teams, as we quickly approach the NFL Draft. Rumors will pop up about different players that teams are interested in as a game of cat and mouse breaks out between front offices. The Giants have a number of holes they would like to address via the draft, and recent rumors have them filling one of those needs with their first round draft pick.

The Giants currently hold the 10th overall pick in the first round. There is a number of directions they could go in, as many people believe that the Giants will either address their offensive line with a tackle, or add another pass rusher to their defensive line despite the spending spree they had early in free agency. But, Tony Pauline of WalterFootball.com says that the the Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is in the mix for the Giants.

It would be a peculiar choice for the Giants, not because Treadwell isn’t worthy of being selected that high, but because that would be more of a luxury pick. With other more pressing needs, it would seem to be a mistake taking a No.2 wide receiver 10th overall, as Odell Beckham Jr. has the top spot locked down. That is where Pauline puts his GM hat on, saying the Giants could trade back.

More from Giants Rumors

Pauline suggests that if the interest in Treadwell is legitimate, the Giants could trade back closer to the middle of the first round, where selecting Treadwell would be more appropriate. At the same time, they would receive more draft picks, giving them more chances to fill the rest of the holes on their roster. The team Pauline says the Giants should target; the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans already pulled off a blockbuster trade with the St. Louis Rams, landing at the No.15 spot as they traded the No.1 overall pick in the 2016 draft and received a haul in return. Pauline thinks the Titans could try and move back up the draft board with the war chest of picks, and the Giants would be a good target.

Pauline says that the Titans are targeting offensive tackle Jack Conklin, a name he has hear being associated with the Titans. But, offensive tackle is also a position of need for the Giants, and arguably their biggest need entering the draft. If someone as highly regarded as Conklin is there at No.10, why wouldn’t they select him themselves?

Treadwell would fit a need for the Giants, as the wide receiver depth chart is loaded with question marks beyond Beckham Jr. Victor Cruz has deemed himself 100 percent, but he hasn’t played in an NFL game since October 2014, so putting any type of expectations on him would be silly at this point.

While it would be nice to give Eli Manning more weapons, making sure he is protected is of more importance, as he cannot throw the ball if he is constantly on his back. Unless the Giants are blown away with an offer to trade down, it would be a surprise to see them move out of the No.10 spot if one of the offensive tackles are still there when they are on the clock Thursday night.
