Eli Manning has been a pillar of success on the field for the New York Giants, but off the field he is just as successful and he is set to be honored for the work that he puts in.

Eli Manning has been the face of the New York Giants franchise for many years. He has accomplished many feats and broken records that we can only dream of on the field, including winning two Super Bowls. But, if you ask Manning what he has been most proud of accomplishing during his NFL career, there is a good chance that he mentions the work that he has done off the field, not on it.

While some people may be surprised by this, Manning has been extremely active off the field, as he is a part of a number of charities and organizations. Manning works as tirelessly off the field as he does on it, working for a while with Hackensack University Medical Center to fight childhood cancer.

The work does not stop there, as Manning and his wife, Abby, also have their own charity, which they began in 2007. The two of them founded Manning Children’s Clinics in Mississippi that year, while also being heavily involved with New York’s March For Babies for the past nine years.

For his work with childhood cancer, Manning will be honored on May 4th at the 21st Annual Sohn Investment Conference held at Lincoln Center. In partnership with CNBC, the launch of The Sohn-Manning Pediatric Cancer Survivorship Program at Hackensack University Medical Center (HackensackUMC) will also be announced. The program will be funded by a $500,000 grant from The Sohn Conference Foundation, and will support HackensackUMC’s Cure and Beyond initiative, which helps children who have survived cancer treatment live long and healthy lives, according to Jordan Ranaan of NJ.com.

“Eli Manning is a tireless advocate for children fighting cancer, and we are proud to pay tribute to his efforts,” Co-Chair of The Sohn Conference Foundation Doug Hirsch said in a statement. “The needs of childhood cancer patients are often addressed during treatment only, without the long-term follow-up required for a healthy life after cancer. By focusing on the long-term health challenges that survivors face, The Sohn-Manning Pediatric Cancer Survivorship Program will dramatically improve the lives of childhood cancer survivors and ensure their good health for years to come.”

Manning feels deeply about the work he has put in for childhood cancer, as it is an issue that he feels is very important. He made his feelings felt in a statement, saying, “I am honored to receive this award from The Sohn Conference Foundation, an organization that mirrors my deep commitment to treating and curing pediatric cancer. To tackle kids’ cancer, you have to fight it from all angles. You need the best doctors, the best facilities, and cutting-edge research. And if you can spend some time with a kid who is going through a tough time, just to put a smile on their face, it can make a big difference.”

As if all of the winning that Manning has done leading the Giants on the field wasn’t enough of a reason to like him, the work that he puts on to make the world a better place outside of the NFL should do it for you.
