The Brooklyn Nets and New Orleans Pelicans faced off in a rare Sunday matinee at Barclays Center. It seemed as if only one team was ready for the afternoon game, as the Pelicans ended up blowing the Nets off the court, winning the game 106-87.

There was a number of players getting major minutes today that would not be recognizeable to many people as the big named players for each team were sidelined. The Pelicans shut down superstar Anthony Davis recently with a litany of injuries, and also sat Jrue Holiday, Norris Cole and Ryan Anderson today. The Nets, meanwhile, announced that they were shutting down Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young prior to the game.

Because of that a number of younger players got to showcase their talents today and a couple of them came through with big games. For the Nets, Thomas Robinson continued his strong play replacing Young as the starting power forward. Today was the fourth consecutive game that Robinson double-doubled in, as he scored 11 points with 15 rebounds.

Shane Larkin didn’t have a strong shooting game, as he went 3-of-12 from the field, but he did hand out nine assists. Off the bench the Nets backcourt was strong as well, as Markel Brown and Sean Kilpatrick scored 12 and 15 points respectively.

The Nets had five players score in double-figures today, as Henry Sims and Wayne Ellington joined Robinson, Brown and Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick led the way with 15, but that was not enough to keep up with the Pelicans.

The Pelicans also had a number of players have strong games, as they had six players finish with double-figures in scoring. Luke Babbit led the way with 21, as Dante Cunningham and Jordan Hamilton joined him in breaking double-figures in the starting lineup with 14 and 13 respectively.

Off the bench, James Ennis had 14, Alexis Ajinca had 16 and Tim Frazier had 19. Frazier also recorded his first double-double of the season, as he handed out a career-high 13 assists. Frazier has been playing well since coming over to the Pelicans from the Blazers, averaging 13 points, 5.2 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 26.2 minutes per game.
