The New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins will be facing off at Barclays Center tonight; check out our preview and all the information you will need to tune in tonight.

The New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins will be facing off tonight in what is an important game for both teams. With playoff seeding up for grabs, each team could use a win tonight. The Islanders currently lead the Penguins in the standings by three points, but also have two games in hand.

The Islanders are coming into this game on a high note, as they continue their climb in the Metropolitan Division. They are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, including a 6-4 victory over the rival New York Rangers earlier in the week to help their climb. The Islanders are only three games behind the Rangers with three games in hand against them as well.

Islanders’ goalie Jaroslav Halak comes into tonight’s contest on a hot streak of his own. He has gone 4-1-0 in his last five starts, as he is hot between the pipes currently. He will be trying for his 200th career victory tonight. For position players, center Casey Cizikas is coming in on a hot streak as well. In the last seven games, Cizikas has tallied six points, scoring two goals and handing out four assists.

Forward Kyle Okposo has been on fire as well, scoring two points in three consecutive games. He has solid career stats against the Penguins, tallying 30 points in 36 career games against Pittsburgh, scoring 13 goals with 17 assists. John Tavares has also dominated Pittsburgh recently, scoring three goals with three assists in his last four games against the Penguins.

The Penguins have some players coming in on hot streaks as well. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has been solid against divisional foes recently, going 6-1-1 in his last eight starts against Metropolitan Division opponents. He is also looking for a milestone win, as he is one short of 350 for his career.

On the ice, Sidney Crosby has been outstanding recently. He is riding a five-game point streak, scoring three goals with six assists. Patric Hornqvist saw his own scoring streak snapped in the Penguins last game against the New Jersey Devils, but he has been good against the Islanders in his career, scoring eight goals with three assists in 10 games.
