Brooklyn Nets News: Sean Marks made his first signing as general manager, signing Sean Kilpatrick out of the D-League to a 10-day contract.

The Brooklyn Nets were quiet at the NBA Trade Deadline, as Sean Marks was named the general manager hours before it expired. But, he got to work after the deadline, working out buyouts with veterans Andrea Bargnani and Joe Johnson in the last week. Now, Marks is in the process of filling those open roster spots.

The first signing of the Sean Marks era was announced earlier today, as the Nets signed Sean Kilpatrick to a 10-day contract. Kilpatrick was playing for the Delaware 87ers, the Philadelphia 76ers affiliate of the NBA D-League.

The news became official when the Nets sent it out via their Twitter account with a photo of Kilpatick signing his deal.

This will be the third NBA stint that Kilpatrick will have. He played for the Minnesota Timberwolves for four games last season, and the Denver Nuggets for eight games this season. He will now get at least five games to play with the Nets, as they are in the middle of their circus road trip and will play five times during Kilpatrick’s contract.

There is a chance that he will get even more games with the Nets, as there isn’t much in the way of talent from keeping Kilpatrick off the court. With Johnson out of town, the Nets have Bojan Bogdanovic, Markel Brown and Wayne Ellington playing most of the minutes at small forward and shooting guard, where Kilpatrick figures to earn his minutes.

Kilpatrick has earned the chance to play with the Nets with his performance with the 87ers this season. He has been dominating the D-League this season, leading the league with 26.4 points per game. He is shooting an impressive 47.2 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from the three-point line, also adding 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Kilpatrick showed his happiness and thanks for the signing and opportunity on his own Twitter account as well.

"Thank You God!"

The only thing that has been working against Kilpatrick has been his age. He is only 26-years old, but was undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft, making him an older player for his class. But, the production has always been there. At the University of Cincinnati he earned second team All-American honors when he averaged 20.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Kilpatrick should have an opportunity to showcase those talents in the coming days with the Nets, as they have nothing to play for and will essentially be auditioning players to see if they are worthwhile players to keep around for the future.
