The New York Knicks suffered another difficult defeat Sunday night, this time in overtime to the Houston Rockets. The Rockets were able to use a strong fourth quarter push to tie the game and eventually win after the extra five minutes, defeating the Knicks 116-111.

The Knicks are now riding a four-game losing streak after winning four consecutive games and find themselves once again two-games under .500 at 8-10. Their home struggles have continued, as they are 3-6 at Madison Square Garden on the season and have lot their first two games so far on this homestand.

The Rockets improved their record to 7-10 on the season, and are now riding a two game winning streak after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers Friday night. They are 3-3 away from home, and will look to get over the .500 mark away from the Toyota Center tomorrow night when they finish up their mini road trip and back-to-back set with a visit to the Detroit Pistons.

Tonight was another occasion of the Knicks faltering at the end of the game, as they held a big lead in the fourth quarter but were unable to hold off the hard charging Rockets. The Rockets were able to ratchet up their defensive pressure in the second half, chipping away at the Knicks as the lead they got in overtime was the first one they had since the first quarter.

It was a very disappointing loss for the Knicks, who were in great position to pick up a solid win despite Carmelo Anthony missing the game because of an illness. This was a winnable win that they let get away because of poor execution as the game was nearing it’s end.

The Knicks and Rockets have now split the 2015-16 season series one apiece, with each team winning on the opposing team’s home court. The Knicks will look to avoid the biggest embarrassment of the season Wednesday when they will host the winless 76ers.

Before we get to that game though, let’s’ take a deeper look into the Knicks’ loss to the Rockets Sunday night.
