The New York Giants are getting a big boost this weekend, as Prince Amukamara has proclaimed himself 100 percent healthy and ready to return to the field.

The New York Giants are coming off a successful Week 11. Despite being on bye, the Giants managed to gain ground in the NFC East as the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles both lost and fell to 4-6 on the season. The Giants will now be facing off with the Redskins in Week 12, having a golden opportunity to extend their division lead. They will be getting a much needed boost to do it, as Prince Amukamara is expected to make his return to the lineup.

Amukamara has missed the last five games for the Giants because of a partially torn pectoral muscle. He was hoping the injury would keep him out only two games, but the Giants decided to take the cautious route and make sure he is fully healed before taking the field again. Amukamara has proclaimed himself 100 percent, and is ready to get back on the field to help the Giants.

“I feel like I’m ready to play four quarters of a football game. I feel 100 percent. I’m ready to go. If I had any doubt that I might injure myself more, or if the doctors did, I wouldn’t be out there. I don’t feel any restrcitions. I can run pretty good, jam pretty good… it’s just all about protection,” Amukamara said.

This is great news for the Giants, who have badly missed Amukamara in the secondary. With him sidelined, an already weak secondary was even more exposed. Jayron Hosley and Tevin Wade are borderline NFL talents, and it showed when they were thrust into more prominent roles with Amukamara sidelined.

But, the Giants managed to come out of it still with a 5-5 record. In the process, both players earned important experience and playing time, so the Giants should not be afraid to go to them down the stretch run of the season. This is a bright spot for the Giants, as their defense is finally beginning to get healthy.

In addition to Amukamara, the Giants are also getting linebackers J.T Thomas and Unai Unga back on the practice field. Also, Jason Pierre-Paul is set to play in his third game of the season, as the Giants defense is beginning to get things on track with improved talent returning to the field.

The same cannot be said about the offensive line though, as the Giants are getting hit hard with injuries there. Justin Pugh is still in concussion protocol, which is not an encouraging sign as the Giants are coming off a bye week. He is also joined by Weston Richburg on the sidelines, who is battling a high ankle sprain that he suffered against the New England Patriots in Week 10.

The Giants have done a good job patching the offensive line together, as that has not been the problem this season. The secondary has been though, so it is encouraging to see Amukamara get back into the lineup and looking healthy. He will be a big upgrade in what is a big game for the Giants against the Redskins this weekend.
