The New York Knicks were able to exact some revenge on the Charlotte Hornets tonight. After losing the first meeting of the season in Charlotte, the Knicks bounced back to defeat them in Madison Square Garden 102-94. The Knicks have gotten their sixth win of the season, getting there much quicker this season than last; they didn’t win their sixth game until January 19th to go along with 36 losses.

The Knicks are now riding a two game winning streak, as they have begun turning things around a big at home. After losing their first three games at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks have now won three of four on their home court. If they are to make any noise this season and sneak into the postseason, controlling home court would go a long way.

As for the Hornets, they drop to 5-6 on the season. They will have to wait at least another two games to try and get over the .500 mark, which would be the first time they do that since starting last season 1-0.

Tonight for the Knicks it was another good effort from top to bottom. They did their best to short circuit in the fourth quarter once again, not scoring for 5:43 seconds in the fourth quarter, allowing the Hornets to cut into their 13 point lead. The Hornets had their own struggles though, so the Knicks were able to hold on.

The Knicks had some up and down moments, as they went down by as many as eight points in the first half despite opening up a first quarter lead. They were able to bounce back and get the victory tonight against a team that they felt stole a game away from them last year.

This was a solid ending to a three-game homestand for the Knicks, as they will now head out on a difficult four-game road trip. They will start the trip Friday against the high flying Oklahoma City Thunder, as the Knicks difficult start to the season schedule will continue.

They have weathered it thus far, going 6-6 despite the difficulty. Hopefully that continues during the road trip. Before we focus on the upcoming trip though, let’s take a look at some takeaways from the victory tonight over the Hornets.
