The New York Jets will be hosting the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football in what is a big game for each team. The Jets were able to end their losing streak last week, squeaking by the Jacksonville Jaguars to move their record to 5-3. The Bills were able to pick up a victory over the Miami Dolphins and sit at 4-4.

This game is big because the winner will be in the driver’s seat for a Wild Card spot in the AFC. With the New England Patriots still undefeated at 8-0, an AFC East title seems unlike for either team, so the Wildcard is where they will have to look for playoff aspirations. This game will go a long way in determining that.

A loss for the Jets would be a huge blow to their playoff chances. It would give them losses to two teams, the Bills and Oakland Raiders, that are both fighting for a playoff spot, meaning they lose the first tiebreaker; head-to-head record. For the Bills, a loss would drop them under .500 and set a bad tone for a three-game road trip that has stops at New England and Kansas City following tonight against the Jets.

You can be sure that both teams will be bringing it, despite it being on the short week, because of the implications it brings with it. Rex Ryan will be returning to his old stomping grounds as well, returning to face the team he was the head coach of the past six seasons.

Ryan already stirred the pot earlier in the week when he named IK Enemkpali a captain for the game. For anyone that may have been under a rock earlier in the season, Enemkpali was the player that punched Geno Smith in the Jets locker room, breaking Smith’s jaw and taking him out of the starting quarterback spot. It also ended Enemkpali’s tenure with the Jets, as he was quickly released.

That will be the start of a game that should possess some fireworks between two division rivals looking to gain better position for a postseason run. What will some of those fireworks be?

We have a few predictions. Check out our bold predictions for what should be a hard fought game between the Jets and Bills on Thursday Night Football.
