The New York Knicks suffered a difficult loss to the New Orleans Hornets Wednesday night, falling 95-93. Kristaps Porzingis nailed what was originally called a good three-pointer that would have been a game winner, but it was overturned after a referee review. The Knicks allowed an easy basket to Cody Zeller as Spencer Hawes hit him with a pass underneath the basket to give the Hornets the decisive two point lead.

This was a very disappointing game for the Knicks, who had double-digit leads twice in the game; the Hornets didn’t get their first lead until the second half as the Knicks controlled throughout. The Knicks were unable to overcome the shortcomings they had in certain areas, and the Hornets took advantage.

The Knicks have no one to blame but themselves tonight though, as they were unable to get the necessary stops or baskets when it mattered most, while the Hornets were able to do that. With the loss, the Knicks winning streak was snapped at two games, and their dominance on the road was halted a bit.

This was yet another learning experience for a team that will experience a lot of them during the season. If they can continue to learn from these experiences and make something out of them, the Knicks will quickly improve. They already showed they are capable of adjustments, as they lost three games in a row last week to playoff teams that imposed their will in the fourth quarter, but defeated the Toronto Raptors in a similar situation last night.

This is all a learning process for the Knicks, and while a 4-5 record may be disappointing, there are some positives to take out of it after looking at the teams they have played. There are some to take away from this game as well.
