New York Giants Getting Reinforcements vs. Dallas Cowboys

The New York Giants suffered an ugly loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last week, as they were unable to overcome the injuries that ravaged their defense. Injuries have been a problem for the Giants all season long, but in their most important game of the season thus far against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7, the Giants are getting back a lot of reinforcements.

Leading the way will be Devon Kennard. Kennard has missed the last two games; a win against the San Francisco 49ers and a loss to the Eagles. His loss was a big one for the Giants, as their run defense faltered without arguably their best defender from this season. Their pass rush was also even more lackluster without Kennard, as he is arguably their best pass rusher as well.

In addition to Kennard, the Giants will be happy to see Jon Beason on the field as well. Beason battled a knee injury to start the season, and then suffered a concussion against the Redskins. But, he is listed as probable and should be out there starting for the Giants Sunday. That is important for the Giants because his backup, Uani Unga, is questionable with a neck injury.

Along the defensive line, the Giants are also getting a big boost. Robert Ayers is listed as probable and should suit up. Ayers hasn’t played since Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, and his return would be a big boost to the Giants. Already without Jason Pierre-Paul, Ayers looked like the only sure thing at defensive end for the Giants. He is an above average against the run, and was their most experienced player left. He will provide a big boost getting back in the lineup for a defensive end rotation that was struggling for bodies.

The Giants will also have Jonathan Hankins ready to go along the defensive line, as it will be the healthiest this unit has been in weeks. Trevin Wade is also listed as probable and should be ready to go.

The offense should be ready to go as well. Odell Beckham Jr. (questionable) and Rueben Randle (probable) are both battling hamstring injuries, but should be out there ready to go. Beckham Jr. is listed as questionable for the second straight week, but head coach Tom Coughlin expects him to be ready, saying, “I’m counting on that, yes.”

Rounding out the injury report for the Giants are cornerbacks Trumaine McBride and Brandon McGee, both questionable with a groin and back injury. Joining them as questionable is linebacker Jonathan Casillas, who is battling a neck injury.

Victor Cruz and Prince Amukamara are both listed as out, as the Giants are hoping they return soon.

The Giants look like they may catch a break, as Dez Bryant doesn’t look ready to return. He is listed as doubtful as he battles his way back from a foot injury. Joining him are tight end James Hanna, who is questionable, while wide receiver Brice Butler, defensive ends Randy Gregory, Greg Hardy and David Irving, and safety Danny McCray are all probable.
