The New York Knicks wrapped up their 2015 preseason Thursday night, losing to the Boston Celtics 99-84. While they ended the preseason on a low note, losing their last two games after winning the first four, there were still a lot of positives to take away from the six games they played.

With the improved roster, there is not as many minutes up for grabs, making for some great competition. Derek Fisher will have his hands full when making the rotation for the regular season, as there are many players that have earned playing time in the regular season with their performance in the regular season, but there may not be many minutes to give out.

While it is tough to take away much from the preseason, as some players get minutes that won’t be on NBA teams at this time next week, it is still an important time for teams such as the Knicks; the Knicks alone have five players that need to be released prior to their regular season beginning next week. Coming off as disastrous a season as they had in 2014-15, any signs of improvement are nice to see.

There was certainly plenty of that throughout the six games, as the Knicks look much improved over last season. Again, preseason stats and performances need to be taken with a grain of salt, but there are still some encouraging signs coming from this group of Knicks players.

With the Knicks’ regular season getting underway Wednesday when they travel to take on the Milwaukee Bucks, things will start to count. Before we get to that though, let’s take a look and recap the preseason. Check out our slideshow of six takeaways for the Knicks from their slate of 2015 preseason games.
