New York Mets News: The Mets will be without Juan Uribe again, as he has not yet recovered from his chest injury suffered in September. The Mets also made a move with their pitching staff from the NLDS to the NLCS.

The New York Mets will be without one of the players that helped turn their season around, as Juan Uribe will not be on the NLCS roster. Uribe, was left off the NLDS roster against his former team in the Los Angeles Dodgers as well as he has been battling a chest injury he suffered in September.

Uribe, whom the Mets acquired on July 25th from the Atlanta Braves along with Kelly Johnson, has not yet resumed baseball activities. He is still receiving therapy for the injury he suffered when diving for a ball in September. He played sparingly throughout the last two weeks of the season, but wasn’t able to shake the injury and has been out since.

General manager Sandy Alderson did not express confidence in Uribe making a miraculous recovery to be placed on the roster last second, saying, “I doubt he’ll be available for this series. I don’t contemplate putting him on the roster by tomorrow at 10:00 [a.m.].”

Uribe didn’t perform as well as Yoenis Cespedes when he came over to the Mets, but he helped turn things around. He helped plug the hole at third base with David Wright and Daniel Murphy sidelined, endearing himself to the team right away with a walk-off hit in his second game with the Mets.

Overall, Uribe hit only .219 in 44 games and 128 at-bats with the Mets, but his impact on the team goes well beyond stats as he helped stabilize a team and lineup that was not producing as well as they expected.

That was not the only move the Mets made for the NLCS, as Alderson also hinted at changing some things on the roster. “It might look a little different, I’m not sure. Still have to talk to [manager] Terry [Collins] about that,” Alderson said.

Well, that is exactly what happened, as the Mets made a change to their pitching staff. Erik Goeddel, who was on the NLDS roster, will be replaced by Sean Gilmartin for the NLCS.

Goeddel struggled in his only NLCS appearance against the Dodgers. He came in during garbage time in the Mets 13-7 victory in Game 3, but struggled mightily. He gave up three runs on four hits without recording an out, with a Howie Kendrick home run punctuating his outing.
