MLB Power Rankings Week 26

As we head into the final week of the MLB regular season, we still have some things to figure out in regards to the playoffs. There are currently only two teams to officially clinch their division, as the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets both celebrated division crowns with past week. While divisions may still be up for grabs, four other teams, Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs, have clinched playoff berths.

Where they will be starting their playoff journey though is not yet known, as there are still four divisions up for grabs. It will make for an entertaining final week of the season, as we could see the Cardinals unseated for the first time in months. It will also be interesting to see how certain teams begin setting up their rosters for the postseason, as managers will have tough decisions to make cutting things back down to 25-men after using up to 40 in September.

Will we see any upsets pulled the last week of the season for a team to sneak into the playoffs? With the Houston Astros be able to finish their fairy tale season? We will just have to wait and see after the games this week.

Until then, let’s take in the last MLB Power Rankings before we know who will be playing postseason games and where.

More from New York Mets

30. Philadelphia Phillies (59-97) While this season has been a disaster, the Phillies can take pride in knowing they contributed some to finishing off the implosion of the Nationals. Other than that, the Phillies have looked like a team waiting for the season to come to an end, as they compiled a record of 6-17 thus far through September. This week can’t go fast enough for the Phillies, who look destined for the No.1 overall pick in next year’€™s MLB Draft. Aaron Nola has been shut down for the season as well, as that is one less reason to turn into the Phillies the last week of the season.

29. Atlanta Braves (62-94) The Braves were able to delay the champagne popping of their NL East rival Mets for a couple of nights, taking a series from them last week. They must have used all their energy for that game though, as they followed it up by getting swept by the Marlins over the weekend. The most impressive showing probably came in the series finale against the Mets when Freddie Freeman came off the bench to knock in five RBI. He i€™s definitely a keeper; not something you can say about many of the players the Braves are currently trotting out there.

28. Cincinnati Reds (63-92) Owners of the longest losing streak currently in the majors are the Reds. That losing streak coincides with the Mets clinching their division on their home field, probably the most positive thing that has happened at Great American Ballpark this season. The Reds have a real chance to play spoiler this week though as they will be taking on the Cubs and Pirates, two teams fighting for playoff positioning. You can be sure Joey Votto, owner of a 45 game on base streak, will show up despite all of the mounting losses.
