New York Jets: How To Watch First Preseason Game vs. Detroit Lions

With the Hall of Fame game now behind us, the NFL preseason will officially get underway. For the New York Jets, they will be opening their preseason against the Detroit Lions on the road at Ford Field.

They will be opening the preseason in weird circumstances, as starting quarterback Geno Smith will be sidelined because of a broken jaw suffered in a locker room altercation earlier in the week. The player who punched Smith, IK Enemkpali has since been released and picked up by the Rex Ryan led Buffalo Bills, but the situation still remains a bit cloudy.

What the Jets do know though is that they will be without their starting quarterback for at least 6-10 weeks, making veteran journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick the man under center. It will be interesting to see how much he plays now, as Week 1 of the preseason is normally reserved for backups; will he play the amount of time he was expected to or only a couple series as the new starter?

The Jets will also unveil their new look secondary for the first time in game action, as they upgraded in a big way in the offseason, bringing back Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, while also signing Buster Skrine and Marcus Gilchirst. Don’t forget about the weapon the Jets added offensively, as Brandon Marshall was brought in from the Chicago Bears to help along what had been a stagnant offense for the past couple of seasons.

The Jets are entering the 2015 season with some heightened expectations thanks to a new front office led by Mike Maccagnan and coaching staff led by first year head coach Todd Bowles. If you want to see them in action for the first time, here is how.
