New York Knicks Post Game: Knicks Can’t Get It Going On Second Night Of Back-To-Back, Get Blown Out By Indiana Pacers

The New York Knicks came back to reality Thursday night, as they got blown out by the Indiana Pacers. On the second night of a back-to-back, the Knicks came out strong, leading by 11 in the first quarter, but were unable to maintain their edge as they looked a step slow the entire night.

They were out-manned in the middle and were unable to keep up with the size of the Pacers, resulting in a thorough beatdown in the paint. This is the second loss in six games for the Knicks, as their record now sits at 9-38 on the season. The Knicks will have off a couple of days, as they do not get back on the court until Sunday afternoon when they host the Los Angeles Lakers.

Player of the Game: Louis Amundson

In what could possibly be his last game as a member of the Knicks, Amundson made a strong case to receive a contract for the remainder of the season. He snapped a streak of 102 games without reaching double-digit points, scoring 17 in only 21 minutes on 8-10 from the field. He also pulled down three rebounds with one assist and one block.

The Knicks have played much better since Amundson has been inserted into the starting lineup, breaking a franchise record for most starts by a player on a 10-day contract with six. He has done more than enough to warrant a contract through the remainder of the season. The Knicks will make that decision tomorrow, as Amundson’s second 10-day contract expired tonight after the game.

-Ugly On The Inside

More from New York Knicks

The Knicks were eviscerated in the paint by the Pacers, receiving the type of beatdown inside that you would expect when going up against a combination such as Roy Hibbert and David West. Tonight the Pacers outrebounded the Knicks 49-33, limiting the Knicks second chance opportunities as they were only able to pull down six offensive rebounds in the game. The points in paint was an even bigger differential, as the Pacers scored 50 points inside compared to 26 for the Knicks.

Hibbert and Ian Mahinmi were both strong on the glass, pulling down 10 each. Hibbert picked up a double-double in the game, scoring 18 points as well.

-Poor Third Quarter

After a middling second quarter, the Knicks followed it up with their worst scoring quarter of the season, managing only 12 points in the third quarter. The Pacers on the other hand poured it on, scoring 35 points to break the game open. The Knicks had recently looked to solve their third quarter problems, but tonight looked more like the first half of the season than the turnaround they had the previous five games.

In the middle two quarters tonight, the Knicks were outscored by the Pacers 67-32.

-Veteran Schools Rookie

Langston Galloway has been on quite an impressive streak recently, being one of the driving forces for the Knicks winning four of their previous five games. Tonight he struggled offensively, shooting 2-10 for only two points with two rebounds and two assists. You can say he was taught a lesson of sorts tonight, as Rodney Stuckey took it to him early and often.

Stuckey put together his second consecutive 22-point game, shooting 8-13 from the field, taking advantage of the impressive Knicks’ rookie. He also added five rebounds and three assists to round out his solid stat line.
