Fantasy Football Projections: Can Odell Beckham Jr. continue his torrid pace that he has been on against the St. Louis Rams?

The big week has finally come; fantasy football championship week. Many leagues will come to a close in Week 16 and a league champion will be crowned. One player who has undoubtedly helped fantasy owners get into their respective championship games is New York Giants rookie WR Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham Jr. has been tearing up opposing defenses recently no matter who is standing across from him. Will that continue against the St. Louis Rams in Week 16?

The Rams have been a consistent defense this season defending wide receivers, stepping things up since Week 10. Since Week 10 the Rams have given up the 13th fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers. They also give up very few scores to opposing receivers, giving up only 15 receiving touchdowns on the season, the second least with only the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals giving up less at 14.

The Rams are also in the top half of the NFL in yards given up, ranking 12th at 3,496 yards total and seventh in yards per catch at 10.7 yards. This all has resulted in very few big games against the Rams this season by opposing wide receivers, as only Cordarrelle Patterson Week 1, Doug Baldwin Week 7, Anquan Boldin Week 9 and Emmanuel Sanders Week 11 approached WR1 numbers. Those aren’t players to ignore, but none of them bring the ability that Beckham Jr. brings to the table, or entered the game on the type of torrid pace that he is on.

The one thing working in Beckham Jr.’s favor is the amount of receptions the Rams give up. Their yardage stats are good, but they have allowed 326 receptions against, which ranks 25th in the NFL. That kind of number is something Beckham Jr. should only increase, as he has become Eli Manning’s favorite target by a wide margin. He has dominated targets the last two weeks, receiving 30 and hauling in 23 of them.

Beckham Jr. is on a pace never seen in the NFL by a receiver, rookie or not. He has a consecutive game record of 90+ yards receiving games, reaching that plateau for seven consecutive games. It is a streak that has never been accomplished in the NFL, and there is little reason for it to stop now.

No matter what defenses do Beckham Jr. has been able to still get his. Whether it be against porous defenses like the Washington Redskins last week, or dominant ones like the Legion of Boom of the Seattle Seahawks Beckham Jr. has performed. In a game the Giants could be trailing in, Beckham Jr.’s impressive streak will continue. He should be started with confidence for your fantasy team.

Projection: 11 receptions, 95 receiving yards, one touchdown, 20 rushing yards
