It was a sloppy game between the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers Saturday night, being reminiscent of a preseason game. The play was ragged at with a lot of turnovers time to time and just poor basketball in general. A win is a win though, and for a team looking for anyway to do it like the Knicks they will take it. They also avoided the embarrassment of being the first team to lose to the 76ers this season, as they now stand at 0-13. The Knicks snapped their two-game losing streak, and have a record of 4-10.

Player of the Game: Quincy Acy

Acy was inserted back into the starting lineup and picked up right where he left off. He brought the energy and defense that has become accustomed of him to bring, grabbing five rebounds in 23.5 minutes. Tonight what was different was the offensive end, where Acy registered his first double-digit effort with the Knicks. He scored 10 points, having two thunderous dunks out of his three makes. Acy should stay in the starting lineup for the time being as it balances out the Knicks rotation.

Dynamic Duo Shows Up

Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire were expected to be the cornerstones of the Knicks. Things haven’t gone exactly as expected, but tonight the two were leading men in the victory. Anthony had a game-high 25 points on another efficient 10-20 from the field. He also added seven rebounds and two assists.

Stoudemire is fitting right in with the second unit, as there just aren’t many players coming off the bench that can compete with him. An already talent barren team like the 76ers stood no chance, and Stoudemire dominated. He double-doubled, scoring 16 points to go with 11 rebounds in just over 19 minutes of play. This is the fourth game this season Stoudemire has double-digit rebounds; he did it only five times all of 2013-14.

Jose Calderon Debuts

Calderon made his Knicks debut tonight, and it couldn’t have come against a better team. Calderon is still working himself into basketball shape, so playing against an inferior team was the perfect time to debut. He didn’t have to exert himself minutes wise, playing just over 21. His shot was a little rusty, but everyone looked comfortable on the court that played with him. Better play should be on the horizon as he works back into shape.

Turnovers Galore

The low scoring affair can be attributed to plenty of turnovers from both teams. The Knicks had 20 total turnovers, while the 76ers registered 18.

Three-Point Shooting

At least for one night, the Knicks were able to defend the three-point like well. The 76ers made only 8-26 from deep, equaling 30.8 percent. Four of those came from Robert Covington in the fourth quarter as the Knicks were unable to fully put the 76ers away. One from Hollis Thompson in the fourth quarter as well kept the Knicks a little uneasy.

Offensively the Knicks uncharacteristically struggled from beyond the arc. They made only 6-17 on the night, finishing at 35.3 percent. Anthony and Pablo Prigioni led the way, as they shot 3-7 and 2-3 respectively.

The Knicks will now embark on a four-game road trip that starts Monday night when they visit James Harden, Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets. The game is scheduled to start at 8 PM ET.
