The Jets can’t make it easy on themselves can they?

The Jets came out strong today forcing a Packers fumble on the first play of the game giving the Jets prime field condition on the Packers 16. Jets were able to capitalize on the turnover as Geno Smith ran in for the 1 yard TD giving the Jets a 7 – 0 lead. Later on in the first quarter the Jets made a nice pass to Eric Decker for the 29 yard touchdown giving the Jets a 14 – 0 lead.

The Packers Offense came back and marched down the field but the Jets D was able to hold them to a 31 yard field goal narrowing the lead 14 to 3.

Jets were able to run the ball back down in an 8 minute possession and ends in a 4 yard touchdown to give the Jets a 21 to 3 lead.

Green Bay slowly came back into the game with two field goals kicked by Crosby, 20 and 55 yarder to narrow the lead 21 to 9.

On the next Jets drive, 1st and 10 on the Packers 27, Geno Smith was hit while throwing the ball, forcing a very bad throw, as the pass was intercepted by Tramon Williams. This lead to a 97 yard drive caped off by 6 yard touchdown to Randall Cobb to cut the Jets lead down to 21 – 16 at half.
2nd half didn’t look any better as the Jets allowed the Packers to score another touchdown midway through the 3rd quarter. On the second drive of the half for the Packers, Aaron Rodgers had a nice pass to Jordy Nelson, 33 yard pass to get the Packers into the red zone. Packers capitalized, scoring a 1 yard touchdown to make it 22 – 21. Packers went for the 2 pointer and converted. During the two pointer, Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wikerson gets ejected for unsportsmenlike conduct, hitting some of the packers players. On his way out of the game, Wilkerson was smiling.

The Jets were able to come back with a Nick Folk 52 yard field goal to tie the game at 24.
Thirteen seconds later, Rodgers made a deep pass to Nelson for an 80 yard touchdown giving the Packers a 31 – 24 lead toward the end of the 3rd quarter.

The Jets really didn’t do much in till the Jets got the ball with 9:23 left in the 4th quarter. Geno and the offense was able to move the ball from their own 33 to the Packers 37. Jets had a 4th & 4 with 5:06 to go in the game. Geno went back and made a throw to the end zone and the ball was caught by Jeremy Kerley to give the Jets the tieing touchdown.

BUT WAIT

In same old Jets fashion, offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg called a time out. This time out shouldn’t have been called. Rex Ryan is the only one who can call a timeout. The refs still allow the timeout, erasing the tieing touchdown. The Jets were not able to capitalize on the drive, losing the game and ripping the heart out of many Jets fans (including mine). Packers win 31 – 24.

Final Thoughts:
After a fantastic start, the Jets let the Packers back in. Yes, the Jets fought at the end but what really hurt them was stupid penalties and bad coaching. Is there really any reason for Vick to come in for the wildcat? NO. Bringing in Vick ruins the momentum of the game and a waste of time.

Geno is improving, he again made some really good throws and I like that they have Geno running a little more. I have faith in Geno.

The timeout that cost the Jets the tieing touchdown was just awful timing. We can get mad all we want about the play but if Geno didn’t get that 4th down, everyone would be singing a different tune about that play.

Hey even though the Jets blew this game, they did stay in it. The Jets tried to make a comeback, and are keeping up with the good teams like the Green Bay Packers. The Jets just needs to learn to not make stupid mistakes and close out the games.

AFC East Division Recap:

The Buffalo Bills beat the Miami Dolphins today 29 – 10 at the Ralph. This win gives the Bills their second win of the season and with the Jets losing, the Bills now lead the division. Dolphins fall to 1 – 1 and had a big hit to their offense. Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno was injured and left the game in the first quarter. Reports saying he would be out 4 to 6 weeks.

The Bills are probably at the highest point of the franchise in 20 years. With them leading the division, the Bills have a new owner, and Jim Kelly’s cancer is gone, so its nothing but good times in Buffalo.

New England Patriots destroyed the Vikings in a 30 to 7 victory, getting their first win of the season and showing that the Patriots aren’t dead, like we all thought.

Next week matchup’s include the Patriots at home vs. the Raiders (0 – 2), Bills are at home vs. the Chargers (1 – 1), and the Dolphins at home vs. the Chiefs (0 – 2).

Wrap-Up:
Next week the Jets have Monday Night as the 0 – 1 Chicago Bears come to town.

Right now we are currently messing around with the format for the game recaps so next week, it might be a little different. Any input would be appreciated in the comments or on Twitter.

The road gets tougher from here but if the Jets can just fix a few mistakes, the Jets can make something of this tough stretch.
