The Opponent for the New York Rangers in this season’s Stanley Cup Final will be determined tonight, but the Rangers already know they’re going to be traveling this week to play the first two games of the series, either in Chicago or Los Angeles.
Game one is scheduled for Wednesday June 4th, and game two is slated for Saturday June 7th, with the start times yet to be announced.
I’ve gone on record to say I think the Rangers would match up more favorably with the Blackhawks than they would against the Kings, but that is out of the team’s control.
Either way, this should be a very exciting few weeks in New York. The Rangers have not appeared in the finals since 1994, when they prevailed over the Vancouver Canucks. They will be underdogs regardless of who they face, and they will start the series on the road regardless of who wins the West. Playing four games on the road is not necessarily a bad thing for the Blueshirts, who have been terrific on the road this postseason, with 6 of their 12 wins coming in games away from the Garden.
Honestly, I thought I’d have to move to baseball for Mc’s Picks by now, but the Rangers have exceeded my expectation this postseason. Hopefully, for all the Ranger faithful, they can exceed expectations for a few more weeks.
