The kid hasn’t even established himself in the city or the team yet and he is already suffering from New York media drama.
Odell Beckham Jr. was selected 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.
The wide receiver from LSU is reportedly being scammed by a woman that claims she is his fiancee and that they are getting married next year because of an unexpected pregnancy.
According to Beckham himself, the whole story is fabricated and he never even met this woman before.
A Giants spokesman said that the organization has contacted NFL Security and asked them to run an investigation on the woman hoping that this doesn’t cause any more harm to the player or the team.
Whatever the truth is, the Rookie has to try and end this situation as quickly as possible so he can focus on the major task he’s got at hand – trying to make a good impression by performing like a veteran in a relatively deep WR roster. It would not be the first time that an off-field situation caused a decrease in performance on the field, and frankly no Rookie can afford that at this point.
Fans can only hope Odell makes the most of this distraction and takes it as an encouragement to focus on his game and make the team better.
