Knicks and Nets Pulling For Each Other Tonight

Tonight everyone in the big city is both a Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks fan, as both teams have the opportunity to lend a hand to their intercity rival. The Nets, who have locked up a playoff spot, take on the Atlanta Hawks tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and the Knicks head north of the border to play against the Raptors in Toronto.

The Nets currently sit in the 5 spot in the Eastern Conference, but with a strong finish and a lot of help still could pass the Raptors for the division title, and the 3 seed. It is a long shot seeing as they are 3 games back with only 4 games left to play, but it is not impossible. Taking care of business at home against the Hawks, an inferior opponent, and a win by the Knicks tonight would help the Nets’ cause significantly.

The Knicks are looking up at the Hawks for the final playoff spot, trailing Atlanta by 2 games with 4 games to play (the Knicks would need to pass Atlanta though, because the Hawks have the better conference record, essentially making the Knicks deficit 3 games as well) so a win tonight couple with a Net victory over Atlanta would be huge for the Knickerbockers. The Knicks ahve shown all year they have the ability to beat, and lose to, anyone in the league and they should be the more desperate team tonight, but that does not always equate to a superior effort from them.

Regardless, it should be a fun night of basketball for the City with both games having playoff implications for both teams.

Tonight we are all fans of New York, all of New York.
