The New York Jets are Underestimated Again

Just mere days after the Seattle Seahawks destroyed the Denver Broncos and win the Super Bowl, the rest of the league turned their eyes to next season.  Vegas put out their betting odds for next year already and according to bovada.lv the Seahawks are favorite to win the Super Bowl 5/1 followed by the 49ers 7/1, Broncos and Patriots are both 10/1 odds. The Giants are placed at 33/1 odds. What about the Jets you ask? The New York Jets are 66/1? That’s right; the New York Jets betting odds are lower than the Houston Texans. The team that finished last place in the league and have the number one spot in the draft has better odds to win the Super Bowl then the New York Jets.

I know, some of you might be thinking that I’m overreacting and I might be to a degree but those betting odds show that the Jets still don’t get respect. Even after a season where the Jets were predicted to not even win 4 games and yet somehow finished 8 – 8 and came very close to a playoff spot. This team has so much going for it. Rex Ryan saved his job after everyone (including me) thought he was a dead man walking, The players love playing for Rex Ryan, the Jets have some decent talent and they got the off-season to make some moves to help out Geno (Yes, Geno will probably be our QB next season).  Everyone in the media seems to forget that before General Manager John Idzik joined the Jets organization back in 2013, he was with the Seattle Seahawks. That’s right, Idzik help built that Super Bowl winning Seattle team. Idzik and Ryan both get along real well with each other.  Seriously why can’t people in the media give this team the credit when it’s deserved?

Look I’m not saying the Jets are going to win the Super Bowl this year. They aren’t even going to make it to the Super Bowl but I can see the team making the playoffs.  This team deserves a little more respect than 66 to 1 odds. I can surely say with all of my heart that this team has a better shot at making the Super Bowl then the Redskins and the Buccaneers who are both at 50 to 1 odds.  Yes, the Redskins have RG3 but as we saw last season they don’t have much talent surrounding him and we don’t know if we will be seeing first year RG3 or sophomore RG3 and even if you RG3 back to how he was playing in his first year, there is still a big chance of getting injured due to how he plays. The Buccaneers have no shot, they got no QB, new Head Coach, a god awful offense, but they do have Revis and anytime I hear from him anymore it’s always something negative. The Jets deserve a little more respect than what the Vegas odds makers are giving them and I’m positive Rex will use this as an motivation tool as the New York Jets will probably make the Playoffs next season.
