When and Where: Thursday January 17. Bankers’ Life Fieldhouse Indianapolis, Indiana.
Why?: This game features two former bitter rivals, you can not forget the intense hatred between these two teams and fan bases in the 1990′s, looking to renew those emotions. The Indiana Pacers are a terrific basketball team, they currently lead the Eastern Conference’s Central Division by 11.5 games and the Eastern Conference itself by 2.5 games over the Miami Heat.
They do not have what you would call a ‘star studded’ lineup like the Heat feature, but they are loaded with very good players who work incredibily well together. Only Paul George is averaging morethan 15 points per game but they have five players that average more than ten with George, Roy Hibbert, Lance Stephenson, David West and George Hill all dropping double digit points per game. Possibly the most incredible feature of the Pacers is their depth. They currently have ten players that average more than ten minutes a night.
The Knicks will have their hands full dealing with teh balanced attack of the Pacers, especially on the raod, but given their current run of form maybe they will have another instance where they prove that they are ready to take the next step and make a run towards legitimate playoff contention in the East. I didn’t think they could beat the Heat last week but they pulled that game off, if they can manage a result in Indy it will go a long way towards proving that they are for real.
