Remember that time when I wondered what happened to former star running back Peyton Hillis? Well, the running back has risen from the dead and will work out for the New York Giants.

According to Conor Orr of the Star-Ledger, the New York Giants are going to hold some tryouts for the running back position, and one of those that will try out is Peyton Hillis. With David Wilson out for a few weeks, the Giants need all the help they can get, but I don’t think Hillis is the answer.

Hillis, who graced the cover of “Madden 12″ just a couple of years ago, has seen his football career take a nosedive. Hillis made his mark in 2010 when he bulldozed his way for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns as a member of the Cleveland Browns, but ever since that breakout season, the back has experienced a string of injuries, and was dropped by two teams (Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers). Madden curse, anyone?

A backfield of Brandon Jacobs and Hillis will provide the Giants zero value. There are other backs that would be more productive (read: Beanie Wells and Michael Turner), so why waste time?
