New NFL Power Rankings, Week 3: Jets Up, Giants Down

Two weeks of football and we still don’t quite know what’s going on with our beloved New York football teams. The New York Jets have no clue who their starting quarterback will be for the season, and the New York Giants forgot how to … well, they forgot how to play Giants football.

The New York Jets are 1-1 and the New York Giants are 0-2. Two weeks into football and we already have Jets fans calling for Matt Simms to start, which is ridiculous, and the Giants being written off.

Before the season started, NFL’s power rankings ranked the Jets at No. 32. Forget that there are definitely worse teams in the league, let’s just put the bumbling Jets in last place for no real valid reason.

The rankings were more kind to the other New York team. The Giants went into the season ranked at No. 12. The only concern was their defense and if it would be the dominant power it was once.

Well, that has all changed two weeks later. ESPN’s NFL Power Rankings for Week 3 have the Giants dropping to No. 20, and the Jets moving to No. 28.

In two games, Big Blue’s 10 turnovers (seven interceptions) lead the league, and they go into Carolina to face Cam Newton and company. Can the Giants defense keep up with the elusive quarterback?

The Jets have improved in ranking, but the league and ESPN still aren’t taking gang green seriously. Yes, they obviously need some work on their offense, but their defense has been on top of its game so far.

Let’s see where these two teams end up after this weekend.
