We may still be weeks away from the start of NBA training camps but that didn’t stop many of the New York Knicks from getting an early start to their 2013-2014 season.
With a make or break season on the horizon for the Knicks, many of the teams key players showed up early to the team’s practice facility in Greenburgh to get an early jump on training camp.
Tyson Chandler, Iman Shumpert, C.J. Leslie, Amar’e Stoudemire and Beno Udrih, among others, were at the the facility this past week, according to sources with knowledge of the teams workouts.
Veteran point guard Raymond Felton is expected to join later in the week, as is Metta World Peace, and summer camp standout Tour’e Murry, whom the Knicks officially invited to training camp last week.
After a war of words from both sides for most of the offseason, the Knicks prepare for a season in which the focus is not only on winning the Knicks first NBA title in over 40 years, but also on coming out ahead of the rival Brooklyn Nets.
It is not clear whether defending NBA scoring champion Carmelo Anthony will join training camp early.
