Former Pro Bowl defensive back, and friend of Empire Writes Back, Terrell Thomas is scheduled to make his preseason debut on Saturday against the rival New York Jets in what will be his first live game action in over two years.
The word out of training camp is that Terrell Thomas has looked great in his last couple of practices. Putting in most of his work against slot receivers, Thomas had his first interception of training camp on Wednesday.
“He looked good yesterday moving around out there, really moved well today,” Coughlin said. “He is going to go [on Saturday]. He will play.”
With Corey Webster and Antrel Rolle both still sidelined with injuries, Thomas should get an extended look against the Jets, and if he can prove he’s ready to play on Sundays, he might see some snaps out of nickel packages Week 1 against the Cowboys.
It’s hard not to route for Thomas, who has had seemingly bad break after bad break while trying to work himself back onto the field over the past two years. If the buzz out of Giants training camp is any indication, Thomas’ time for redemption may finally be here.
