New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan certainly has a flair for the dramatic. After days of speculation—and keeping Jets fans hanging on the edge of their seat—of who will start the second preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, it was finally announced on Thursday morning that Mark Sanchez will be behind center at the start of the game.
QB decision made for this weekend: Mark Sanchez will start vs. Jacksonville.

It’s not yet known if Sanchez is getting the start over rookie Geno Smith because of Smith’s ankle injury last week, or because Sanchez earned the right to another start by outshining the rookie at training camp.
This doesn’t mean that Sanchez has won the starting job for the season, but he is starting to pull ahead in the quarterback competition, and Geno Smith is running out of time to claim that starting spot for the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hang tight, Jets fans. It’s still too early to decide anything, but one thing’s for sure: it will be an interesting season.
