In an update to a story we ran earlier in the week, the trade rumors by which the Cubs reunite Alfonso Soriano with his former Yankee teammates Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera rang home true today.  In exchange Chicago will get Class A pitcher Corey Black from the Yankees.

Soriano who is owed $24.5 million through the end of next season, will have about $17.7 million picked up by the Cubbies with the Yanks covering the remaining $6.8 million.  Soriano, who scheduled to make $18 million next season, of which $5 million of will be footed by the Yankees, hopes the change of scenery doesn’t put a damper on his July hot streak and sparks some fire into this anemic Yankees lineup.

Batting .254 with 17 home runs and 51 RBIs this season is 11 hits shy of 2,000 for his career and 11 homers short of 400.

Welcome back to the Bronx Sori!
