NBA Free Agency 2013 Preview

With just a few hours left until the start of the NBA Free Agency, there have already been some major story lines just waiting to be played out. Where will Dwight Howard end up? Will he and Chris Paul join forces for the 2013-2014 season? Well, in order for this rumor to be fulfilled Dwight Howard will have to stay in Los Angeles, except not with the Lakers. Chris Paul has notified the Clippers that he will resign with them because of the acquisition of Doc Rivers. Will Dwight Howard also join them on the Clippers?

Another huge story circling around all the sports news programs is the Celtics/Nets trade that is bound to happen. The agreement between the two teams cannot become official until tonight, due to one of the players involved in the trade will have to take part in a “sign-and-trade,” which cannot happen until midnight. However, the delay in the trade does not take away the significance of the deal. The Nets will be acquiring Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry in return for future first round picks, Kris Humphries, and more.

These aren’t the only players that have the possibility of switching teams during the offseason. The list of notable free agents is gargantuan, and they include the following:

  • Dwight Howard
  • Andrew Bynum
  • Andre Iguodala
  • Josh Smith
  • David West

  • Tony Allen
  • Jeff Teague (Restricted)
  • Brandon Jennings (Restricted)
  • Al Jefferson
  • Kevin Martin
  • J.R. Smith

With all these proven athletes, will the Nets or the Knicks make a push for any of them? Which players, if any, will the Nets try and add to their newly acquired Garnett/Pierce duo? Who will the Knicks go after to play alongside Carmelo Anthony and bring their franchise to the next level?
