In light of the news coming out Foxboro this morning that Massachusetts State Police have issued an arrest warrant for New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, we at The Empire want to take a first-hand look at how this latest development for the Pats, coupled with Tebowmania and the lingering health issues surrounding tight end Rob Gronkowski will ultimately impact the Jets success this upcoming season.
While the loss of both Hernandez and Gronkowski would have serious ramifications on just about every other NFL team, true football fans know any squad captained by sure-fire hall of famer Tom Brady and led by head coach Bill Belichick simply cannot be counted out.
Frankly, if the 2013 Jets have any resemblance to the disaster of a product they managed to march out on the field week-in and week-out last season, this latest news out of Boston will mean absolutely nothing to the team other than hopefully removing some of the spotlight off the circus act that is Rex Ryan’s Jets. And while the news may certainly shift the focus off of embattled quarterback Mark Sanchez for the time being, the reprieve for Sanchez and the Jets is sure to be short-lived following their first embarrassing outing this upcoming season.
What everyone around the league should be asking now is how all this ultimately affects the rest of the teams battling for the top of the AFC East.
