In news that broke on the team’s official facebook page, the Bills have shipped Kelvin Sheppard to the Indianapolis Colts for, hybrid linebacker/rush end, Jerry Hughes.

A year younger than Sheppard, with an extra year of NFL experience, Hughes brings to town a more reliable asset in terms of attacking the quarterback.  Sadly, Hughes only has five total sacks in forty games played; however, more pressure off the end can only help Buffalo.

Sheppard totaled 95 tackles and 2 sacks during his two years in Buffalo as a constant contributor in a “we really need linebackers” defense.

The trade also opens the door for, rookie, Kiko Alonso to step in and potentially start right away, alongside free agent pick-up Manny Lawson.
